The SKF 62201-2RS1 wide-series sealed deep groove ball bearing is designed for small-diameter shafts where additional axial bearing width is required without increasing the outside diameter. It shares the 12mm bore and 32mm outside diameter of a conventional 6201 bearing but has a 14mm width instead of 10mm. This difference is important for equipment using precisely positioned spacers, housing shoulders or retaining rings. The single row deep groove design accommodates predominantly radial loads and limited axial forces in either direction. Published specifications give a basic dynamic load rating of 6.89kN and a basic static load rating of 3.1kN. Bearing selection should be based on these ratings rather than assuming that the wider profile automatically provides higher load capacity.
The 2RS1 double rubber contact seals keep the factory grease within the bearing and help exclude airborne dirt and moisture. This makes the design useful for covered rollers and compact mechanical equipment where regular relubrication is inconvenient. A published limiting speed of 15,000rpm provides a reference for rotational suitability, although actual running conditions depend on loading, temperature and friction at the contacting seals. Normal radial internal clearance means shaft fits and thermal expansion must be considered during installation to maintain suitable operating clearance. When replacing an existing bearing, confirm the complete 62201-2RS1 designation: a standard 6201 bearing has the same bore and outside diameter but cannot be treated as an identical dimensional replacement.
