SKF 6317-2RS1 Rubber Sealed Single Row Deep Groove Ball Bearing 85x180x41mm

The SKF 6317-2RS1 sealed deep groove ball bearing is engineered for larger rotating assemblies where high radial loading demands a substantial bearing cross-section. Its 85mm bore, 180mm outside diameter and 41mm width make it suitable for shafts requiring considerably more support than smaller 62 series arrangements. Compared with the 6217, which measures 85 x 150 x 28mm, the 6317 requires additional radial and axial installation space but offers a significantly higher load rating. Its single row deep groove raceways support predominantly radial loads and axial forces in either direction, subject to the bearing's rated limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 140kN and a basic static load rating of 96.5kN. These ratings are essential for evaluating fatigue life, stationary loading and duty cycles involving variable mechanical forces.

The 2RS1 rubber contact seals provide contact sealing on both sides, retaining factory-applied grease and helping restrict the entry of dust, moisture and industrial contaminants. This arrangement is beneficial where exposed machinery or difficult maintenance access makes lubricant retention important. SKF lists a limiting speed of 2,400rpm for the sealed bearing, although continuous operation must also account for bearing load, operating temperature and friction from the contacting seals. Normal (CN) radial internal clearance requires appropriate consideration of interference fits and temperature differences between the shaft and housing. The bearing has an approximate mass of 4.25kg, so suitable handling and installation tools are important. During mounting, transmit fitting forces directly through the ring being installed and verify the complete designation before replacing a shielded, open or C3-clearance version.
