Metal Shielded deep groove ball bearings are the most popular bearings available, with metal shields that are included within the outer raceway. The shields are tightly fitting against the inner race and they provide protection against mild mechanical contact and the entrance of dust, moisture and other contamination. They also contribute to the retention of pre installed grease, with maintenance free application. For applications of single shield, one seal can be removed.
