The SKF 61820-2RS1 sealed thin-section deep groove ball bearing provides rotational support for substantial shaft diameters where a conventional deep groove bearing would require an oversized housing. Its exceptionally shallow 618 series cross-section enables a lightweight, space-efficient bearing arrangement while retaining the ability to accommodate radial loads and limited axial forces in both directions. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 17.8kN and a basic static load rating of 18.3kN. These figures are particularly important because this bearing has considerably less load capacity than wider series with the same bore. Selection should be based on calculated loads, operating duty and available installation space, rather than shaft diameter alone.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain the factory grease and help prevent dust and moisture reaching the rolling elements, making the bearing suitable for enclosed assemblies where external lubrication access is difficult. SKF lists a limiting speed of 3,000rpm for this sealed configuration. Contact seal friction, operating temperature and grease condition should therefore be considered when assessing continuous rotation. Normal radial internal clearance requires carefully specified shaft and housing fits. Because the rings are thin relative to the bore diameter, excessive interference or uneven housing support can distort the raceways. Accurate mounting and uniform seating are essential, particularly in large-diameter assemblies with restricted bearing sections.
Typical Applications:
Large-bore rotary positioning mechanisms
Space-restricted industrial shaft supports
Specialised automation and indexing equipment
Lightly loaded large-diameter rotating assemblies
Compact industrial mechanisms with enclosed bearings
