The SKF 6214-2Z double-shielded deep groove ball bearing combines substantial radial load capability with the efficient rotation expected from SKF Explorer bearing technology. Its 70mm bore, 125mm outside diameter and 24mm width suit larger industrial shaft arrangements where dependable performance is essential. The single row deep groove raceways support predominantly radial loads together with axial forces in either direction, within the bearing's rated capacity. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 63.7kN and a basic static load rating of 45kN, making these values important when calculating bearing life and checking operating loads. Its standard 62 series proportions should be verified against the shaft and housing dimensions before installation.
The 2Z designation identifies non-contact metal shields fitted on both sides. These shields help retain factory-applied grease and reduce the entry of larger dirt particles without the additional rubbing friction associated with contact rubber seals. This makes the bearing particularly suitable for relatively clean, enclosed machinery where low-friction operation is more important than protection against water or fine contaminants. SKF publishes a reference speed of 11,000rpm and a limiting speed of 5,600rpm; these are different manufacturer-defined values, and the appropriate operating speed must be established from actual lubrication, load and temperature conditions. Normal (CN) radial internal clearance and a sheet metal cage complete the standard construction. For replacement applications, distinguish this bearing from the 6214-2Z/C3, which has greater radial internal clearance, and from the 6214-2RS1 contact-sealed variant.
Typical Applications:
