The SKF 63003-2RS1 wide-section sealed deep groove ball bearing is intended for smaller shaft arrangements requiring greater bearing width without increasing the radial space occupied by the housing. Its 17mm bore and 35mm outside diameter match those of the standard 6003, but its 14mm width provides an additional 4mm of axial section. This difference affects the placement of spacers, shaft shoulders and retaining components, making the two bearings unsuitable as direct dimensional substitutes. The single row deep groove design supports radial loads and limited axial forces in either direction. SKF catalogue specifications give a basic dynamic load rating of 6.05kN and a basic static load rating of 3.25kN. The wider profile should not be mistaken for automatically increased carrying capacity.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain factory-applied grease and help protect the rolling elements against airborne dust, dirt and moisture. This construction is useful in compact enclosed machinery where routine relubrication access is limited. SKF lists a limiting speed of 13,000rpm for this contact-sealed configuration, although continuous operation also depends on load, temperature and seal friction. The bearing has normal radial internal clearance rather than C3, so shaft interference fits and thermal expansion should be considered before installation. Importantly, the 63003-2RS1 must not be confused with the larger 6303 bearing, which has a 47mm outside diameter. For replacement work, confirm the complete designation and the 14mm bearing width.
