The SKF 16100-2Z shielded deep groove ball bearing provides compact shaft support for rotating assemblies where axial installation space is limited. Its 10mm bore, 28mm outside diameter and 8mm width offer a thinner alternative to the standard 6200 bearing, which measures 10 x 30 x 9mm. The dimensional difference makes the 16100 particularly relevant to equipment with closely spaced retaining shoulders or limited housing clearance. Its single row deep groove raceways accommodate primarily radial loading together with axial forces in either direction, subject to the bearing's rated limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 5.07kN and a basic static load rating of 2.36kN, providing useful reference values for bearing life and loading calculations.
The 2Z designation identifies metal shields fitted on both sides of the bearing. These non-contact shields help retain the factory-applied grease and provide a barrier against larger airborne particles, without the additional rubbing friction associated with contact rubber seals. They are not intended to provide the same protection against water or fine contaminants as a fully contact-sealed bearing. SKF lists a 30,000rpm limiting speed and 60,000rpm reference speed for this configuration; these are different ratings, and neither guarantees suitability at a particular speed without assessing load, lubrication and operating temperature. The bearing has normal (CN) radial internal clearance and a pressed sheet metal cage. For replacements, confirm the full 16100-2Z designation, as the open 16100 and C3 clearance variants have different operating characteristics.
