The SKF 6016-2Z shielded deep groove ball bearing is engineered for rotating equipment requiring an 80mm shaft support without the larger housing dimensions of the 6216 or 6316 series. Its 125mm outside diameter and 22mm width make it particularly relevant where radial installation space is limited. The single row deep groove raceways support substantial radial loads and axial forces in either direction within the bearing's rated limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 49.4kN and a basic static load rating of 40kN, allowing engineers to assess fatigue life and stationary loading. The SKF Explorer designation and P6 dimensional tolerances provide further specification details for accurate bearing selection.
The 2Z designation means steel shields on both sides, rather than rubber contact seals. These non-contact shields help retain the factory-applied grease and restrict larger contaminants while producing less seal friction than contacting rubber seals. They are therefore appropriate for relatively clean, enclosed machinery, but should not be treated as equivalent to contact seals where moisture or fine dust exposure is significant. SKF lists a 5,600rpm limiting speed and an 11,000rpm reference speed; the limiting speed is the more relevant published ceiling for this shielded configuration. Normal (CN) radial internal clearance means shaft fits, housing fits and operating temperatures must be considered during installation. When replacing a 6016 bearing, check whether the original assembly requires the 2Z shielded version, a contact-sealed version or a particular internal clearance.
Typical Applications:
Industrial electric motors with 80mm shaft journals
Enclosed power transmission and gearbox assemblies
Industrial fans and ventilation drive systems
Conveyor drives and rotating shaft support equipment
General manufacturing machinery operating in relatively clean environments
