The SKF 6301-2Z/C3 shielded deep groove ball bearing is designed for rotating equipment where a 12mm shaft requires a robust bearing with low-friction protection. Its 37mm outside diameter and 12mm width provide a more substantial cross-section than the corresponding 6201 series, although the larger housing dimensions must be accommodated. The single row deep groove raceways support radial loads and axial forces in either direction within the bearing's rated capacity. SKF specifies a 10.1kN basic dynamic load rating and 4.15kN basic static load rating, making these figures useful for evaluating operating loads and expected fatigue life. The pressed sheet metal cage separates and guides the rolling elements during operation.
The 2Z designation indicates a non-contact steel shield on each side, rather than the rubber contact seals used on 2RS1 bearings. These shields retain factory-applied grease and provide protection against larger contaminants while producing less sealing friction, but they offer less protection against water and fine contamination than contact seals. The C3 radial internal clearance is greater than normal before mounting and is intended for installations where interference fits or thermal effects reduce the running clearance; it is not automatically preferable for every application. SKF lists a 22,000rpm limiting speed, subject to operating temperature, lubrication and load conditions. When replacing this bearing, confirm the 2Z shields and C3 clearance, as a normal-clearance or contact-sealed version may behave differently in service.
Typical Applications:
Small industrial electric motors with C3 clearance requirements
Compact ventilation fans and blower assemblies
Light industrial pump and circulation drives
Mechanical transmission and gearbox support shafts
Agricultural and workshop machinery with shielded bearings
