The SKF 6216-2RS1/GJN sealed deep groove ball bearing is designed for substantial rotating shafts where bearing load capacity and the original lubrication specification are both important. Its 62 series raceway geometry provides a more substantial bearing section than the corresponding 6016 while requiring less installation space than a 6316. The single row ball arrangement accommodates predominantly radial loads together with axial forces in either direction, subject to operating conditions. SKF catalogue data gives a basic dynamic load rating of 72.8kN and a basic static load rating of 55kN. These ratings support bearing-life calculations and the assessment of continuous or intermittent industrial loading.
The distinguishing feature of this version is its GJN grease fill, an NLGI 2 lubricant containing a polyurea thickener and mineral base oil, formulated for applications with defined grease performance requirements. The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain this lubricant and help restrict dust, dirt and moisture. SKF lists a limiting speed of 3,000rpm for the contact-sealed 6216 design; the appropriate operating speed must also account for grease performance, temperature and loading. Normal radial internal clearance requires suitable shaft and housing fits, especially where interference mounting or thermal expansion changes the installed clearance. When replacing an existing bearing, matching the /GJN suffix is important because an otherwise dimensionally identical 6216-2RS1 may use a different grease specification.
Typical Applications:
Industrial electric motors with specified grease requirements
Large ventilation fans and extraction equipment
Industrial pumps and fluid circulation machinery
Enclosed conveyor and transmission drives
Continuous-duty industrial rotating shaft assemblies
