The SKF 62200-2RS1 wide-series sealed deep groove ball bearing provides support for smaller rotating shafts where a broader axial bearing profile is specified. Its distinguishing feature is its 14mm width, compared with the 9mm width of a conventional 6200 bearing. Although both share the same bore and outside diameter, this 5mm difference affects bearing seats, retaining arrangements and the positioning of adjacent components. The single row deep groove design accommodates predominantly radial loads together with axial forces in either direction, subject to operating conditions. Published specifications give a basic dynamic load rating of 5.07kN and a basic static load rating of 2.36kN. The increased width should not be mistaken for a proportionate increase in load capacity.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain the grease fill and help prevent contaminants from reaching the balls and raceways. This arrangement is particularly useful in enclosed assemblies where bearing relubrication is difficult. The published limiting speed is 17,000rpm, although continuous operating suitability must account for friction at the seals, temperature and loading. Normal radial internal clearance means mounting interference and operating temperature differences should be considered when specifying shaft and housing fits. For replacement work, matching the full 62200-2RS1 designation is important: the narrower 6200 version is not an identical dimensional substitute, even though the shaft and housing diameters match.
