The SKF 6021-2Z shielded deep groove ball bearing is designed for large rotating assemblies where a 105mm shaft requires a comparatively compact bearing outside diameter. Its 160mm outside diameter and 26mm width provide a slimmer mounting envelope than heavier bearing series with the same bore size. The single row deep groove construction accommodates substantial radial loads together with axial forces in either direction, within its rated limits. SKF specifies a 76.1kN basic dynamic load rating and 65.5kN basic static load rating, providing useful reference values for bearing-life calculations and equipment selection. This makes the 6021-2Z relevant to large industrial drives and rotating machinery where accurate shaft alignment and load distribution are important.
The 2Z designation indicates non-contact metal shields on both sides, rather than rubber contact seals. These shields help retain the factory-applied grease and limit the entry of larger dust particles while producing less friction than contacting seals. They are best suited to comparatively clean or additionally protected environments, rather than direct exposure to water or heavy contamination. SKF lists a reference speed of 8,500rpm and a limiting speed of 4,300rpm; the limiting speed must be respected despite the higher thermal reference value. The bearing has normal (CN) radial internal clearance, unlike the 6021-2Z/C3 variant with increased clearance. During replacement, confirm shaft and housing fits, operating temperature and the full designation, particularly when selecting between shielded and contact-sealed versions.
