The SKF 61824-2RS1/C3 sealed extra-thin-section deep groove ball bearing is designed for large-diameter shafts where surrounding equipment leaves limited radial and axial space. Its 120mm bore and 150mm outside diameter give a radial section height of just 15mm, while the 16mm width supports compact mounting arrangements. Compared with the 61924 series, which measures 120 x 165 x 22mm, this bearing occupies considerably less installation space. The single row deep groove raceways carry predominantly radial loads and accommodate axial forces in either direction within the bearing's rated limits. Published specifications give a basic dynamic load rating of 29.1kN and a basic static load rating of 28kN. The thin-section design makes accurate load calculations and appropriate shaft support especially important.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain factory-applied grease and help protect the raceways from dust, moisture and other contaminants. Unlike the standard-clearance 61824-2RS1, this /C3 variant has greater-than-normal radial internal clearance, allowing for applications where tight mounting fits or operating conditions reduce internal clearance. C3 does not automatically make the bearing suitable for every high-temperature or high-speed application; the required operating clearance must be calculated. Published specifications for the exact C3 variant list a limiting speed of 5,300rpm, although permissible operating speed remains dependent on loading, lubrication, temperature and seal friction. The bearing uses a sheet metal cage and bearing-steel rings. Before installation, verify housing dimensions, axial retention and the complete 2RS1/C3 designation to avoid substituting a standard-clearance or differently sealed version.
