The SKF 6000-2Z double-shielded deep groove ball bearing provides low-friction rotational support for machinery using a 10mm shaft within a 26mm bearing housing. Its 8mm width makes it particularly useful where both radial and axial installation space are limited. Manufactured from bearing steel, this SKF Explorer bearing uses a single row of balls running in deep raceways to accommodate radial loads and axial forces in either direction, within its rated capacity. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 4.75kN and a basic static load rating of 1.96kN, providing useful reference values when evaluating bearing life and operating loads. The pressed sheet metal cage maintains ball spacing during rotation, supporting reliable operation in compact electric motors, fans and precision mechanisms.
The 2Z designation identifies a metal shield on each side of the bearing. These non-contact shields help retain the factory-applied grease and protect against larger particles without creating the same rubbing friction as rubber contact seals. This makes the 6000-2Z particularly attractive for relatively clean, higher-speed applications where efficient rotation is a priority. SKF lists a 34,000rpm limiting speed, although actual operating speed must account for lubrication, loading and temperature. The bearing has normal (CN) radial internal clearance; applications requiring greater initial clearance should consider the separately designated 6000-2Z/C3. Metal shields offer less protection against fine dust, water and washdown exposure than suitable contact seals, so the operating environment should guide selection. Confirm the dimensions, clearance and full part number before installation.
