The SKF 6002-2Z shielded deep groove ball bearing offers a compact, low-friction solution for rotating assemblies with a 15mm shaft diameter. Its 32mm outside diameter and 9mm width make it suitable for relatively narrow bearing housings, while the single row deep groove construction accommodates radial loads and axial forces acting in either direction within the bearing's rated limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 5.85kN and a basic static load rating of 2.85kN. These values are useful when checking bearing life and operating loads in small motors, ventilation equipment and industrial mechanisms. Compared with the larger 6202 bearing, the 6002 requires less radial and axial installation space, making it a practical choice where compactness is a priority.
The 2Z designation identifies a metal shield on each side of the bearing. Unlike contacting rubber seals, these shields operate without intentional contact with the inner ring, reducing seal-related friction and making the bearing well suited to higher rotational speeds. They help retain the factory-applied grease and restrict larger contaminants, although they provide less protection against water and fine dust than contact-sealed alternatives. SKF lists a 50,000rpm reference speed and a 26,000rpm limiting speed; actual operating speed must be evaluated against lubrication, temperature, loading and application conditions. The bearing has normal (CN) radial internal clearance and a sheet metal cage. When selecting a replacement, confirm that the equipment requires the shielded 6002-2Z rather than a rubber-sealed 6002-2RSH or an increased-clearance variant.
