The SKF 6006-2Z metal shielded deep groove ball bearing provides low-friction shaft support for rotating machinery requiring a 30mm bore, 55mm outside diameter and 13mm width. Its relatively slim 60 series cross-section allows installation in housings that cannot accommodate the larger 6206 or 6306 bearings. The single row deep groove raceways carry predominantly radial loads while also accommodating axial forces in either direction within the bearing's rated limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 13.8kN and a basic static load rating of 8.3kN. These ratings help engineers assess fatigue life and operating loads when selecting bearings for motors, fans, pumps and transmission assemblies.
The 2Z designation identifies a metal shield on each side of the bearing. Unlike the rubber contact seals fitted to a 6006-2RS1, these shields do not contact the rotating inner ring, helping reduce friction and heat generation at higher speeds. They retain the factory-applied grease and provide protection against general dust, but offer less resistance to water and fine contaminants than contact seals. SKF publishes a reference speed of 28,000rpm and a limiting speed of 14,000rpm; the appropriate operating speed must be assessed under actual load, lubrication and temperature conditions. The bearing has normal (CN) radial internal clearance rather than C3. When replacing an existing bearing, confirm the shield type and clearance suffix, as identical dimensions do not guarantee identical operating characteristics.
Typical Applications:
Industrial electric motors in relatively clean environments
Ventilation fans and air-handling equipment
Compact pump drive and shaft assemblies
Light industrial gearboxes and transmission mechanisms
Automated machinery and precision conveyor drives
