Equivalent to 6909-2RS
The SKF 61909-2RS1 sealed thin section deep groove ball bearing provides rotational support where a 45mm shaft must fit within a relatively compact housing. Its 619 series geometry offers a useful middle ground between the exceptionally slim 61809 and the wider 6009 bearing series. The single row ball design accommodates radial loading and moderate axial forces in either direction, within its rated capacity. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 14kN and a basic static load rating of 10.8kN. These figures help engineers evaluate bearing life and load suitability where restricted dimensions make bearing selection particularly important. Unlike extra-thin 618 series alternatives, this design provides greater load capacity at the cost of a larger cross-section.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain factory grease and help restrict dust and moisture from reaching the rolling elements. This arrangement is useful in compact drives and enclosed machinery without convenient external lubrication facilities. SKF lists a limiting speed of 6,000rpm for the sealed configuration, although actual operating suitability depends on load, temperature and seal friction. Normal radial internal clearance requires attention to shaft interference fits and housing tolerances, particularly where temperature changes affect running clearance. Accurate alignment and appropriate mounting methods are also important. When replacing a bearing, confirm the complete designation rather than selecting an alternative solely because it has the same bore diameter.
