The SKF 6200-2Z double shielded deep groove ball bearing provides a compact, low-friction solution for supporting 10mm rotating shafts. Its 30mm outside diameter and 9mm width make it suitable for machinery where bearing space is limited, while the single row deep groove raceways accommodate radial loads and axial forces in either direction within the bearing's rated capacity. SKF Explorer specifications list a basic dynamic load rating of 5.4kN and a basic static load rating of 2.36kN. These values provide a basis for evaluating fatigue life and maximum loading in motors, fans and mechanical transmissions. The bearing uses a sheet metal cage and has normal (CN) radial internal clearance, making correct shaft and housing fits important to maintaining suitable running conditions.
The 2Z designation identifies a metal shield on each side of the bearing. Unlike the contacting rubber seals used in a 6200-2RS1, these shields operate without intentional contact against the rotating inner ring, reducing friction and supporting higher-speed operation. They help retain the factory-applied grease and limit contamination from larger particles, but offer less protection against fine dust, moisture and liquid ingress than contact seals. SKF specifies a 28,000rpm limiting speed for the 6200-2Z, compared with 17,000rpm for the equivalent double contact-sealed configuration. Actual continuous speed capability depends on load, lubrication and operating temperature. The bearing is supplied greased and has no built-in relubrication provision, making it a practical option for enclosed mechanisms with relatively clean operating conditions.
