The SKF 6300-2Z/C3 shielded deep groove ball bearing provides dependable rotational support for 10mm shafts in electric motors and other high-speed mechanical assemblies. Its 35mm outside diameter and 11mm width give it a more substantial cross-section than the corresponding 6200 bearing, although the housing must accommodate the larger dimensions. The single row deep groove construction supports radial loads together with axial forces in either direction, within its rated limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 8.52kN and a basic static load rating of 3.4kN. Its C3 radial internal clearance is greater than normal, providing additional initial clearance to accommodate reductions caused by interference fits and temperature differences. This does not mean C3 is preferable in every installation; clearance selection should follow the equipment manufacturer's requirements.
The 2Z designation identifies non-contact steel shields on both sides, rather than rubber contact seals. These shields help retain the grease and restrict larger particles while producing less seal friction than contacting designs. They are particularly suitable for relatively clean, high-speed operating environments, but provide less protection against fine dust and moisture than 2RS1 or 2RSH contact seals. SKF lists a 26,000rpm limiting speed and a 50,000rpm reference speed; the limiting speed must not be confused with the reference speed or a guaranteed permissible operating speed. The bearing incorporates a sheet metal cage and is supplied grease-lubricated, without a relubrication feature. When replacing a bearing, confirm the complete 6300-2Z/C3 designation, as shield type and internal clearance are both important to correct operation.
