The SKF 6211-2Z double shielded deep groove ball bearing combines a 55mm bore, 100mm outside diameter and 21mm width with a versatile single row ball-and-raceway arrangement. Designed to accommodate predominantly radial loading alongside axial forces in either direction, it provides dependable support for rotating shafts in motors, pumps and mechanical transmissions. SKF specifications give a basic dynamic load rating of 46.2kN and a basic static load rating of 29kN, providing useful parameters for assessing fatigue life and stationary loading. Its normal (CN) radial internal clearance is intended for conventional operating arrangements, although shaft fits, housing fits and operating temperatures must still be considered during selection.
The 2Z designation identifies two non-contact metal shields, rather than the rubber contact seals used on SKF 6211-2RS1 bearings. The shields help retain factory-applied grease and limit the entry of larger debris while minimising sealing friction, making this arrangement attractive for relatively clean, higher-speed machinery. However, metal shields offer less protection against fine dust, water and washdown conditions than contact seals. SKF lists a 14,000rpm reference speed and a 7,000rpm limiting speed for this bearing; these figures describe different operating considerations and should not be treated as interchangeable. The bearing uses a sheet metal cage and has no routine relubrication feature. For replacement work, verify the 2Z suffix and clearance designation, particularly when the original equipment specifies a C3 or contact-sealed variant.
