The SKF 6315-2RS1 sealed deep groove ball bearing is engineered for rotating equipment where a 75mm shaft must be supported under demanding mechanical loads. Its 160mm outside diameter and 37mm width provide a substantially larger bearing cross-section than the 6215 series, which measures 75 x 130 x 25mm. This distinction makes the 6315 suitable for applications designed around a larger housing and stronger bearing arrangement, but the two series are not dimensionally interchangeable. Its single row deep groove raceways accommodate significant radial loads together with axial forces in either direction, subject to the bearing's rated capacity. SKF product data specifies a 119kN basic dynamic load rating and 76.5kN basic static load rating, providing useful reference values for assessing fatigue life and stationary or intermittent loading.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals are fitted on both sides of the bearing to retain factory-applied grease and restrict the entry of dust, dirt and moisture. This protected construction is particularly beneficial in industrial drives where bearing access is limited and contamination could shorten service life. SKF specifies a 2,800rpm limiting speed for the sealed configuration; actual operating suitability also depends on temperature, applied load and heat generated by seal friction. The standard 6315-2RS1 features normal (CN) radial internal clearance, whereas the 6315-2RS1/C3 has greater initial clearance. Correct shaft and housing fits are especially important for this larger bearing because mounting interference and operating temperature can affect the remaining internal clearance. During replacement, verify the full designation, clearance specification and housing dimensions.
