The SKF 61803-2RS1 sealed thin section deep groove ball bearing is engineered for small rotating assemblies where radial space and installation width are tightly restricted. Its 618 series geometry provides only 4.5mm of radial section between the bore and outside diameter, allowing a compact bearing housing without reducing the required shaft size. The single row ball design accommodates radial loading and limited axial forces in either direction. SKF catalogue data lists a basic dynamic load rating of 2.03kN, a basic static load rating of 1.27kN and a limiting speed of 16,000rpm. These relatively modest load ratings make it important to assess belt tension, shock loading and operating duty before selecting the bearing for a particular mechanism.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain factory grease and help restrict dust and moisture entering the bearing, reducing the need for external relubrication arrangements. This is particularly useful in miniature enclosed mechanisms where access for servicing is limited. Contact seals create additional running friction compared with open bearings, so temperature and rotational speed should be evaluated together. Normal radial internal clearance requires carefully controlled shaft and housing fits. Because the bearing rings are exceptionally thin, excessive interference, uneven housing support or incorrect mounting pressure can distort the raceways and compromise running performance. Accurate mounting and correct alignment are therefore essential for reliable operation.
