The SKF 61815-2RS1 sealed thin section deep groove ball bearing provides support for 75mm rotating shafts where conventional bearing series would occupy excessive radial or axial space. Its 618 series construction has a small difference between bore and outside diameter, making it particularly suitable for compact mechanical designs. The single row ball arrangement accommodates radial loads and moderate axial forces in both directions, subject to its relatively modest load capacity. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 12.5kN, a basic static load rating of 10.8kN and a limiting speed of 4,000rpm. These figures should be considered when selecting the bearing for lightly loaded rotating assemblies rather than high-load industrial drive shafts.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain the factory grease and help protect the bearing against contamination, particularly where a separate lubrication system cannot be accommodated. Compared with open or low-friction sealed alternatives, contact seals introduce additional running resistance. Normal radial internal clearance also makes correct shaft and housing fits important. Because the rings are unusually thin, excessive interference or housing distortion can affect internal clearance and running performance. Installation should therefore use accurately machined seating surfaces, suitable mounting tools and appropriate alignment. For replacement purposes, the complete bearing designation should be matched rather than selecting a thicker bearing solely by bore size.
Typical Applications:
Compact rotating mechanisms and drive assemblies
Space-restricted automation equipment
Lightly loaded industrial rotary shafts
Precision handling and positioning machinery
Specialised equipment with thin bearing housings
