The SKF 62205-2RS1/C3 sealed deep groove ball bearing is designed for shaft arrangements requiring a 25mm bore, 52mm outside diameter and an extended 18mm bearing width. Compared with the standard 6205 bearing, its wider section requires an additional 3mm of axial installation space, making shaft shoulders, spacers and retaining arrangements important when checking compatibility. The single row deep groove raceways accommodate predominantly radial loads alongside axial forces in either direction, subject to the bearing's rated capacity. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 14kN and a basic static load rating of 7.8kN. These ratings help engineers assess operating loads and bearing life, rather than assuming a wider bearing automatically has greater carrying capacity.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain factory-applied grease and help prevent dust, dirt and moisture from entering the raceways. SKF lists a limiting speed of 8,500rpm for this sealed configuration, although continuous operation also depends on temperature, load and seal friction. The distinguishing feature is its C3 radial internal clearance, which is greater than normal (CN) before mounting. This extra clearance can help compensate for clearance reductions caused by tight shaft fits or temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. However, C3 is not automatically preferable for every application. Incorrect clearance selection can affect noise, vibration and bearing life. Confirm that the original equipment specifies the full 62205-2RS1/C3 designation before replacing a normal-clearance bearing.
Typical Applications:
Electric motor assemblies specified for C3 clearance
Industrial conveyor and roller drive shafts
Pump assemblies with elevated operating temperatures
Compact industrial transmission mechanisms
Rotating equipment with interference-fitted bearing seats
