The SKF 6208-2RS1/C3 sealed deep groove ball bearing combines a 40mm bore, 80mm outside diameter and 18mm width with increased radial internal clearance for demanding shaft arrangements. Its single row deep groove raceways accommodate predominantly radial loads and axial forces in either direction within the bearing's rated limits. SKF Explorer specifications give a basic dynamic load rating of 32.5kN and a basic static load rating of 19kN. These values support bearing-life calculations and equipment selection, particularly where loads fluctuate during starting, stopping or normal operation. The defining feature of this version is its C3 clearance, which is greater than normal (CN) before installation. This additional clearance can help compensate for reductions caused by tight mounting fits and temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, but it must be selected according to the actual operating conditions.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals provide protection on both sides of the bearing, retaining factory-applied grease and helping exclude dust, dirt and moisture. This arrangement suits industrial machinery where lubrication access is limited and contamination could shorten bearing life. SKF specifies a limiting speed of 5,600rpm for the contact-sealed configuration; continuous operation must also account for load, operating temperature and seal friction. The bearing incorporates a sheet metal cage and has no integral relubrication provision. Although the 6208-2RS1 and 6208-2RS1/C3 share identical dimensions, their internal clearances are different and should not be treated as interchangeable without checking the equipment specification. During fitting, use appropriate shaft and housing tolerances and avoid transmitting mounting forces through the rolling elements.
Typical Applications:
Industrial electric motors requiring C3 clearance
Centrifugal pumps and rotating process equipment
Industrial ventilation fans and blower assemblies
Conveyor drive shafts and power transmission systems
Agricultural and general industrial machinery
