The SKF 6206-2Z shielded deep groove ball bearing combines the established 62 series geometry with SKF Explorer performance for industrial applications requiring smooth rotation and moderate load capacity. Its 30mm bore, 62mm outside diameter and 16mm width make it suitable for standard 6206 bearing seats, provided the shielding and clearance specification also match the equipment requirements. The single row deep groove raceways support radial loads alongside axial loads acting in either direction, within the bearing's rated limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 20.3kN and a basic static load rating of 11.2kN. These ratings support bearing-life calculations and help engineers assess suitability for machinery with varying loads.
The 2Z designation identifies a metal shield on each side of the bearing. Unlike contacting rubber seals, these shields operate without continuous contact against the rotating inner ring, reducing frictional resistance and heat generation at higher speeds. They help retain factory grease and provide a degree of protection against larger particles, but are less effective than contact seals against fine dust, water and heavy contamination. SKF specifies a 24,000rpm reference speed and a 12,000rpm limiting speed; these are different catalogue parameters, and neither should be treated as an unconditional permissible operating speed. The bearing has normal (CN) radial internal clearance and a sheet metal cage. For replacement work, distinguish it from the 6206-2Z/C3 with greater internal clearance and the 6206-2RS1 with rubber contact seals. Confirm operating conditions, mounting fits and lubrication requirements before installation.
