The SKF 62203-2RS1 wide-series sealed deep groove ball bearing is intended for rotating machinery with a 17mm shaft and a bearing seat requiring 16mm of axial width. Although it shares the 40mm outside diameter of the conventional 6203, its wider profile changes the positioning of housing shoulders, spacers and retaining components. It should therefore not be treated as a direct dimensional replacement for the 12mm-wide 6203. The single row deep groove construction supports predominantly radial loads and limited axial forces in either direction. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 9.56kN and a basic static load rating of 4.75kN. Importantly, the increased width does not automatically mean greater load capacity than a standard 6203, so the published ratings must guide bearing selection.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain factory grease and provide protection against the ingress of dust, dirt and moisture. This makes the bearing useful in enclosed conveyor components and machinery where frequent lubrication access is inconvenient. SKF publishes a limiting speed of 12,000rpm and a mass of approximately 0.089kg for this configuration. Actual operating suitability depends on load, temperature, lubrication and friction generated by the contacting seals. Its normal radial internal clearance also requires appropriate shaft and housing fits to maintain sufficient clearance after installation. When ordering a replacement, confirm the 62203 designation, sealing arrangement and width rather than relying on bore diameter alone.
Typical Applications:
Compact conveyor roller mechanisms
Packaging and processing machinery
Enclosed industrial drive assemblies
Small material-handling equipment
Shaft supports with 16mm-wide bearing seats
