The SKF 62205-2RS1 sealed wide-series deep groove ball bearing provides rotational support for 25mm shafts in machinery designed around an 18mm bearing width. Although it shares the 52mm outside diameter of the standard 6205 series, its wider construction changes the axial mounting dimensions and must be considered when specifying spacers, housing shoulders and retaining arrangements. Its single row deep groove geometry supports radial loads and accommodates axial forces in either direction within the bearing's rated limits. SKF catalogue figures specify a basic dynamic load rating of 14kN and a basic static load rating of 7.8kN. The increased width does not automatically mean greater load capacity than a conventional 6205 bearing, so selection should be based on the published ratings.
The 2RS1 contact seals on both sides retain the grease fill and help prevent airborne dust, dirt and moisture from entering the raceways. This construction is useful in enclosed equipment where regular bearing lubrication is difficult. SKF specifies a limiting speed of 8,500rpm, although actual running conditions depend on load, temperature and friction at the contacting seals. The bearing has normal radial internal clearance rather than C3, so shaft and housing fits must preserve adequate clearance after mounting. For maintenance and replacement work, check the complete 62205-2RS1 designation: the standard 6205 has a 15mm width and is not an identical dimensional substitute.
