The SKF 6011-2Z double-shielded deep groove ball bearing is engineered for rotating equipment requiring a 55mm bore without the larger housing dimensions of heavier bearing series. Its 90mm outside diameter and 18mm width provide a compact installation profile compared with the 6211, which measures 55 x 100 x 21mm. The single row deep groove raceways support predominantly radial loads together with axial forces in either direction, subject to the bearing's operating limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 29.6kN and a basic static load rating of 21.2kN. These ratings support bearing-life calculations and help engineers assess the suitability of the bearing for continuous-duty machinery and changing shaft loads.
The 2Z designation identifies a metal shield on each side of the bearing. Unlike the contacting rubber seals used in 2RS1 variants, these non-contact shields minimise additional running friction while helping retain factory grease and exclude larger particles. They are particularly useful in relatively clean, enclosed motor and drive assemblies where rotational efficiency is important. SKF lists a reference speed of 16,000rpm and a limiting speed of 8,000rpm; these are different catalogue measures and neither replaces an application-specific speed assessment. The bearing has normal (CN) radial internal clearance, not the increased clearance of the 6011-2Z/C3. During replacement, verify the required clearance and shield arrangement, and check that shaft and housing fits do not reduce installed clearance excessively. For environments exposed to water spray or fine abrasive contamination, a contact-sealed alternative may provide more effective protection.
Typical Applications:
Industrial electric motors and drive assemblies
Ventilation fans and air-handling equipment
Enclosed pump and circulating machinery
Light industrial gearboxes and shaft transmissions
Conveyor drives operating in relatively clean environments
