The SKF 6030-2Z shielded deep groove ball bearing is engineered for large-diameter shaft arrangements where radial installation space must be managed carefully. With a 150mm bore, 225mm outside diameter and 35mm width, its 60 series geometry offers a slimmer cross-section than heavier bearing series of the same bore size. The single row deep groove raceways accommodate predominantly radial loads together with axial loads in either direction, subject to the bearing's rated capacity. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 125kN and a basic static load rating of 125kN. These ratings support bearing-life calculations and load assessments for industrial machinery, but they represent different engineering limits and should not be treated as interchangeable working-load figures.
The 2Z designation identifies a steel shield on each side of the bearing. Unlike the contacting rubber seals used on SKF 2RS1 bearings, these shields provide non-contact protection, helping retain grease and restrict larger particles without producing significant seal-contact friction. They are therefore useful in relatively clean or externally protected machinery, although they do not provide the same resistance to moisture and fine contamination as contact seals. SKF catalogue data lists a 3,000rpm limiting speed for the shielded 6030-2Z and a 6,000rpm reference speed; these are different parameters and should not be confused. The bearing features normal (CN) radial internal clearance and a pressed steel cage. During installation, check shaft and housing tolerances, thermal expansion and axial location. A C3-clearance version or rubber-sealed alternative should only be substituted after confirming the application's requirements.
