SKF 6209/C3 Open Deep Groove Ball Bearing
The SKF 6209/C3 is an open single row deep groove ball bearing designed for smooth rotation and effective shaft support. It accommodates radial loads and axial loads in both directions. Its increased C3 internal clearance makes it suitable for rotating assemblies where operating conditions require greater than normal clearance.
Design and Construction
The SKF 6209/C3 features steel balls running between deep raceway grooves. A sheet metal cage separates and guides the rolling elements during rotation.
Its bearing steel construction provides effective load support. With dimensions of 45x85x19mm, the bearing offers a smaller outside diameter than the 6309 series while retaining the same 45mm bore.
C3 Internal Clearance and Open Design
The bearing features C3 radial internal clearance, which is greater than normal clearance. This helps accommodate reductions in operating clearance caused by interference fits and temperature differences between the bearing rings.
Its open design without seals or shields allows grease or oil to reach the rolling elements directly. Suitable external sealing may be required to protect against contamination and lubricant loss.
