The SKF 6305-2Z double-shielded deep groove ball bearing is engineered for industrial shaft arrangements requiring a 25mm bore and substantial radial load capacity within a 62mm outside diameter. Its 63 series geometry provides a heavier bearing section than the corresponding 6205 series, making it appropriate where higher loads can justify the additional housing space. The single row deep groove raceways accommodate predominantly radial loads alongside axial forces in either direction, within the bearing's rated limits. SKF specifications give a basic dynamic load rating of 23.4kN and a basic static load rating of 11.6kN. These ratings provide essential inputs for bearing life calculations, assessment of peak loading and equipment design.
The 2Z designation indicates steel shields fitted on both sides, rather than contacting rubber seals. The shields help retain factory grease while restricting the entry of larger particles, with very little additional running friction. SKF lists a reference speed of 24,000rpm and a limiting speed of 13,000rpm; these are catalogue values rather than guarantees of permissible operating speed under all conditions. Compared with the 6305-2RS1 contact-sealed version, the 6305-2Z favours lower friction and higher operating speed over protection against fine dust or moisture. Its normal (CN) radial internal clearance must be distinguished from the increased clearance of the 6305-2Z/C3 variant. For replacement work, check the bearing designation, operating environment and shaft and housing fits to ensure the correct specification.
