The SKF 6312-2RS1/C3 sealed deep groove ball bearing is engineered for large rotating assemblies requiring a 60mm shaft bore, a 130mm housing bore and a 31mm bearing width. Its robust 63 series geometry offers a substantial load-carrying section, while the single row deep groove raceways accommodate radial loads together with axial forces acting in either direction, within rated limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 85.2kN and a basic static load rating of 52kN, making these figures important when assessing bearing fatigue life and stationary or shock loading. As an SKF Explorer bearing, it combines precision raceway geometry with a sheet metal cage. The full designation is especially important because a standard-clearance 6312 bearing is not necessarily suitable for the same mounting and thermal conditions.
The 2RS1 contact seals provide protection on both sides, keeping factory-applied grease inside while reducing the entry of dirt, moisture and airborne particles. SKF lists a limiting speed of 3,400rpm for this sealed configuration; operating suitability must also account for lubrication, temperature, load and seal friction. The C3 suffix specifies greater-than-normal radial internal clearance, allowing for clearance reductions caused by interference mounting and temperature differences between the bearing rings. However, C3 does not automatically make the bearing suitable for every high-temperature or high-speed application. Correct shaft and housing tolerances, alignment and installation procedures remain essential. During mounting, apply force to the ring being fitted rather than transmitting it through the rolling elements.
