The SKF 62302-2RS1/C3 sealed deep groove ball bearing combines a 15mm bore and 42mm outside diameter with an extended 17mm axial width. Compared with the standard 6302 bearing, which measures 15 x 42 x 13mm, this wider design requires additional space between shaft shoulders and housing retainers. It is intended for assemblies specifically accommodating the 17mm section rather than as a direct dimensional replacement for a 6302. Its single row deep groove raceways support radial loads and axial forces in either direction, subject to the bearing's operating limits. Published specifications list a basic dynamic load rating of 11.4kN and a basic static load rating of 5.4kN, providing useful reference values for load and fatigue-life calculations.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals protect both sides of the bearing, helping retain its grease lubrication while restricting the entry of dust, moisture and other contaminants. The C3 radial internal clearance is greater than normal, allowing for clearance reduction caused by suitable interference fits and operating temperature differences. C3 is not automatically preferable in every application; the correct clearance depends on the shaft, housing and operating conditions. The bearing incorporates a sheet metal cage and has a published limiting speed of 12,000rpm, although permissible continuous operation also depends on load, temperature and seal friction. For replacement work, confirm both the 2RS1/C3 suffix and the 17mm width to avoid selecting a bearing with unsuitable sealing, clearance or axial dimensions.
Typical Applications:
Electric motor shaft assemblies requiring C3 clearance
Compact industrial gearbox and drive mechanisms
Conveyor rollers with 17mm-wide bearing seats
Automated packaging and material handling equipment
Enclosed rotating machinery with interference-fitted bearings
