The SKF 6302-2Z shielded deep groove ball bearing provides reliable shaft support in mechanical equipment requiring a balance of load capacity, compact dimensions and efficient rotation. Its 15mm bore, 42mm outside diameter and 13mm width identify it as a 63 series bearing with a more substantial cross-section than the corresponding 6202. The single row deep groove raceways support predominantly radial loads and moderate axial loads in either direction, within the bearing's operating limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 11.9kN and a basic static load rating of 5.4kN. These figures help engineers assess bearing life and loading suitability in electric motors, fans, pumps and power transmission components.
The 2Z designation indicates a non-contact steel shield on each side of the bearing. Unlike rubber contact seals, these metal shields do not rub against the inner ring, helping minimise friction and heat generation in faster-running equipment. They retain factory-applied grease and provide protection against larger particles, although they offer less resistance to fine dust and moisture than contact-sealed alternatives. SKF lists a 19,000rpm limiting speed and a 38,000rpm reference speed, which are different engineering values and should not be treated as interchangeable maximum operating speeds. The bearing has normal (CN) radial internal clearance and a sheet metal cage. During replacement, check whether the application requires the shielded 6302-2Z, the rubber-sealed 6302-2RS1 or a C3 clearance variant before installation.
