The SKF 6201-2Z/C3 shielded deep groove ball bearing combines a compact 12mm bore, 32mm outside diameter and 10mm width with a design suited to low-friction, high-speed rotation. Its single row deep groove raceways accommodate predominantly radial loads and axial loads in either direction, subject to the bearing's rated limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 7.28kN and a basic static load rating of 3.1kN, providing useful figures for assessing service life and load suitability. The C3 internal clearance is greater than standard CN clearance, allowing for the reduction in running clearance that may result from interference fits and temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. C3 should therefore be selected according to equipment requirements rather than treated as a universal upgrade.
The 2Z designation indicates a pressed metal shield on each side of the bearing. These non-contact shields retain the factory-applied grease and provide a barrier against larger contaminants while keeping friction relatively low. Unlike rubber contact seals, metal shields are not intended to provide the same level of protection against water or fine contamination. SKF lists a 26,000rpm limiting speed and a 50,000rpm reference speed, which are different parameters and should not be interpreted as guaranteed continuous operating speeds. The bearing incorporates a sheet metal cage and SKF Explorer performance classification. For replacement work, confirm both the 2Z shielding and C3 clearance, as an otherwise identical 6201-2Z bearing with normal clearance may not meet the same application requirements.
