The SKF 6022-2Z/C3 shielded deep groove ball bearing combines a 110mm bore with a comparatively compact 170mm outside diameter and 28mm width. Its 60 series geometry is useful where radial installation space is limited, while the single row deep groove raceways support radial loads and axial loads in either direction within the bearing's rated capacity. SKF specifications give a basic dynamic load rating of 85.2kN and a basic static load rating of 73.5kN, providing important reference values for assessing bearing life and stationary loading. The SKF Explorer performance classification and pressed steel cage make this bearing a practical option for substantial rotating equipment. Its dimensions should be checked carefully against the housing, shaft shoulders and adjacent components before installation.
The 2Z suffix identifies non-contact pressed steel shields on both sides. Unlike rubber contact seals, these shields do not rub against the inner ring, helping reduce friction while retaining factory-applied grease and providing protection against larger airborne contaminants. They are less effective than contact seals where water, fine dust or heavy contamination is present. The C3 radial internal clearance is greater than normal and helps accommodate clearance reductions associated with interference fits and temperature differences between the bearing rings. It does not automatically make the bearing suitable for every high-temperature application. SKF publishes a 4,000rpm limiting speed for this configuration; actual operating limits also depend on load, lubrication and temperature. When replacing a bearing, confirm both the 2Z shield arrangement and C3 clearance rather than relying on the 6022 dimensions alone.
Typical Applications:
Large industrial electric motors and motor-driven equipment
Industrial pumps and fluid-handling machinery
Conveyor drive and power transmission assemblies
Industrial ventilation fans and air-handling equipment
Rotating machinery requiring C3 internal clearance
