The SKF 6008-2RS1/C3 sealed deep groove ball bearing combines a compact 40mm bore arrangement with the additional internal clearance specified for particular industrial operating conditions. Its 68mm outside diameter and 15mm width make it a relatively slim alternative to larger 62 and 63 series bearings, provided its load ratings satisfy the application. The single row deep groove raceways accommodate radial loads and axial forces in either direction, subject to their rated limits. SKF specifies a basic dynamic load rating of 17.8kN and a basic static load rating of 11kN. These figures help engineers assess bearing fatigue life and resistance to permanent deformation under demanding loading conditions.
The 2RS1 rubber contact seals retain factory-applied grease and help exclude contaminants, reducing the need for routine relubrication in suitably protected machinery. SKF lists a limiting speed of 6,300rpm for this contact-sealed configuration, although actual continuous operating speed depends on load, temperature and lubrication conditions. The defining feature of this variant is its C3 radial internal clearance, which is greater than normal clearance before mounting. This extra clearance can compensate for reductions caused by interference fits and temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. However, C3 is not automatically preferable for every installation, and excessive operating clearance can affect vibration and running accuracy. When replacing a bearing, confirm that the original equipment specifies C3 rather than the normal-clearance SKF 6008-2RS1.
Typical Applications:
Industrial electric motors requiring C3 clearance
Ventilation fans and air handling equipment
Centrifugal pumps with specified bearing fits
Compact industrial transmission assemblies
Conveyor drives and rotating shaft mechanisms
